The Campaign for Healthy Minds, Healthy Kids is calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to extend a recent order requiring insurance companies to waive copays and fees for essential workers’ mental health and substance use disorder services to cover such services for their children. The coalition argued in a May 4 letter that “providing children with behavioral health supports is the key for reducing long-term poor mental health.” New York, it added, “cannot afford to ignore the immediate needs facing the state’s most vulnerable children or we will see the negative health and social outcomes multiplied in the coming months and years.”
