NEW YORK – In response to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s State of the State address today, Alice Bufkin, Associate Executive Director for Policy & Advocacy at Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York, released the following statement on behalf of the Campaign for Healthy Minds, Healthy Kids:

“The Campaign for Healthy Minds, Healthy Kids lauds Gov. Hochul for making mental health a focus of her State of the State address. For too long, children and families have struggled to access the life-saving mental health services they need. We are pleased the administration recognizes the urgent need to significantly invest in a continuum of care, including by expanding mental health services for school-age children, expanding insurance coverage for mental health services, and adopting new access and network standards for insurance companies.

We look forward to learning more about the impact of the administration’s proposals on children, and to working together to ensure our state has the capacity and resources necessary to ensure every child has access to the behavioral health supports they need to thrive.”
