“Governor Cuomo’s budget proposals take a number of important steps to make New York a better place for children and families. We are particularly pleased to see an increase in the minimum wage and investments in quality early childhood education. In addition, we support the plan to improve outcomes for youth and public safety by raising the age of criminal responsibility in New York and ensuring no 16 or 17 year old will be placed in an adult prison in the future. We look forward to working with the Governor and the State legislative leaders to enact these proposals and others in order to produce better outcomes for New York’s children and youth.” Citizens’ Committee for Children is an independent multi-issue child advocacy organization whose mission is to ensure every New York City Child is healthy, housed, educated and safe.
