CCC’s YouthAction Members, a dynamic group of youth advocates who have graduated from CCC’s internship program to its membership program, have put together a compelling report detailing the issue most important to them and their peers after three years of advocacy, learning, and data collection.
From the report: “Three years ago, we began sharing our experiences as young people living in New York. Our discussions frequently centered around the impact of punitive systems and practices in our schools, homes, and the criminal justice system on ourselves and our peers. We organized several interactive listening sessions, engaging over 200 young individuals from all five boroughs, along with Long Island and Westchester, to capture their stories. We have compiled the insights gathered from these sessions into this report to emphasize the legislative priorities of Young New Yorkers concerning the Juvenile Justice System and beyond.”
