On Thursday April 27th, Policy and Advocacy Associate Jenny Veloz submitted written testimony to the City Council Oversight Hearing on Lead-Based Paint Hazards on the need to close loopholes in existing lead laws in New York City. In her testimony, she urges the Council to pass a package of lead bills that would strengthen current lead laws and hold landlords accountable for the abatement and remediation of lead-based paint. These bills are a necessary step in ensuring children living in buildings with lead-based paint are no longer lead poisoned.
