On Monday, November 21st, CCC Policy and Advocacy Associates Juan Diaz, Caitlyn Passaretti, and Jenny Veloz provided written testimony for the New York City Council Committee on Education and Committee on Oversight & Investigations School Bus Transportation hearing that examined the current needs of vulnerable school-aged children.

CCC testified on support of the expansion of bus service for children in shelter enrolled in 3-K and Pre-K, to promote participation in quality early childhood programs and ensure that they have the same opportunity for school stability. Additionally, CCC urged the City to improve bus services access for foster care youth by reimbursing the transportation costs for students that do not qualify for free school transportation services. Lastly, CCC highlighted the need to assign the newly acquired electric buses to low-income communities, who are environmentally overburdened.
