CCC’s summary of City Fiscal Year 2017 Budget Priorities highlight a number of key recommendations for Mayor de Blasio’s Administration and the City Council to include in the Adopted Budget to make NYC a better place to be a child.

These priorities include:

• Restoring $20.35 million so that 31,000 middle school students can be safe and positively engaged while their parents are at work this summer.
• Creating salary parity with DOE staff and adequate benefits for early childhood education staff in community based organizations.
• Adding at least $41.2 million to enable at least 60,000 youth to participate in the Summer Youth Employment Program this summer.
• Adding $13.8 million to ensure emergency food providers can meet the demand.
• Restoring $9.9 million for 3,400 COMPASS (After-school) Elementary slots and increasing the capacity to serve more elementary and high school students in after-school programs.
• Adding $8.75 million to expand universal lunch to elementary and high schools. In addition, this document lays out CCC’s support for a number of proposals from the City Preliminary and Executive Budget plans and City Council Initiatives that have not yet been baselined or restored.
