Watch the webinar recording on the launch of our 2025 Child and Family Well-being Index – The Road to Equity and Well-being: Striving for Every Child to be Healthy, Housed, Educated, and Safe
In this recording, you will hear CCC researchers and policy advocates share key statewide findings, highlight regional disparities, and discuss actionable strategies to ensure all New Yorkers—regardless of geography—can access the resources they need to thrive.
Home to nearly 20 million residents, New York is a vibrant and diverse state characterized by a distinctive blend of natural beauty and economic opportunity, from the iconic New York City skyline to the scenic landscapes of the Adirondacks and the Finger Lakes. It is also an economic powerhouse, with critical infrastructure that serves as the foundation for providing access to child care, stable housing, educational opportunities, and more.
Yet, ask many families in New York State and you will hear that life has been more difficult. Meeting basic necessities are at the top of the mind of communities across New York, with families trying the best they can to make sure children and youth are Healthy, Housed, Educated, and Safe.
Rural areas often struggle with limited access to essential resources, while urban centers face challenges like high child poverty rates and unaffordable housing. What’s clear is that opportunity is not equally distributed—and that must change.
