On March 9th, CCC submitted testimony to the Committee on General Welfare regarding the CFY23 Preliminary Budget. The testimony highlights the need to address family homelessness by dramatically expanding access to prevention programs, shelter services, and affordable housing. CCC also expressed support for Fair Futures and urges greater investments in preventive services to prevent engagement in the child welfare system. Moreover, the testimony urges the Mayor and City Council to invest heavily in community programming, parks, housing, youth sports, employment, and behavioral health as key strategies for supporting youth and combatting community violence. Finally, the testimony highlights important investments in the human services workforce, as well as for income and anti-hunger supports.
