On March 21st, 2022, Rebecca Charles, Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York Policy and Advocacy Associate, submitted testimony to the New York City Council Committee on Education’s Preliminary Budget Hearing. Rebecca called for increased investments in education, specifically in supports for students who are experiencing homelessness, immigrants, bilingual, or in need of mental health support. The testimony stresses that now is not the time for cuts to the DOE’s budget. As we emerge from the pandemic, the city should be focused on how we can transform our education system to meet the needs of all students.
