TESTIMONY: DFYJ’S Efforts In The Implementation Of Raising The Age Of Criminal Responsibility

On December 6, 2017, CCC testified before the New York City Council Committee on Juvenile Justice about the efforts ACS’s Division of Youth and Criminal Justice has made and needs to make to implement raising the age, as well as the efforts and implications for other city agencies and stakeholders.

CCC’s testimony focused on the need to invest and plan for the increase in services, largely in the community, for youth 16 and 17 years old. CCC also focused on the need to ensure that this continuum of services is youth-oriented delivered through a juvenile model. Finally, CCC testified about our efforts to advocate at the state level to ensure raise the age is funded.
