On Tuesday October 18th, Caitlyn Passaretti, a Policy and Advocacy Assoicate, provided oral and written testimony to the New York State Assembly for a hearing on Primary Prevention hosted by the Committee of Children and Families. In her remarks, she reminded the Committee of the devastating impact the pandemic continues to have on families and shared data showing that families need for basic necessities had greatly increased. For example 80% of families reported an increase in the need for food. To address such an increase in need, CCC urged for policies that would lift incomes and reduce poverty such as increasing tax credits, universal child care, and cash transfers.
