Testimony & Public Comments

February 27, 2023

On Monday, February 27th, Policy and Advocacy Associate Caitlyn Passaretti presented oral testimony at a City Council Oversight Hearing on Support for Unemployed Youth. She highlighted that the City must take bold steps to address the unemployment rates in the city, especially as the city recovers from the pandemic. Caitlyn uplifted successful models like the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), Work Learn Grow, and youth programs that offer employment opportunities and/or positive youth development programming. Finally, she recommended that the city ensure that special populations of youth are able to access programs and employment, that runaway and homeless youth access stable housing, and that youth service providers receive the needed support and resources to support programs and employment.
