CCC testified in support of a City Council Resolution supporting the City’s plan to expand full-day UPK and after-school programs through a small tax increase on the wealthiest New Yorkers, at a City Council Education and Women’s Issues Hearing on February 11, 2014.

The City has proposed to expand full-day Universal Pre-Kindergarten to all 4-year-olds and after-school programs to all middle school programs through a temporary small tax increase on New Yorkers earning over $500,000. This plan would raise $530 million and allow the City to expand the system this coming school year.  Forty seven City Council Members co-sponsored the Resolution. New York City will need Albany’s approval to implement the plan.
