Politico Pro: Coronavirus complicates city’s census efforts

With coronavirus spreading throughout the five boroughs, city officials have had to rapidly rework their strategy to ensure New Yorkers fill out the 2020 census.

The city had been planning to reach its more than 8.5 million residents in their neighborhoods, at 300 pop-up centers. Workers would help people fill out their forms at libraries, houses of worship and other public places. Subways were set to feature rolling advertisements for the census and more than 160 community organizations that received $19 million in grants had planned public events to spread the word.”
