Leadership starts with you

For over fifty years, concerned citizens just like you have taken our Community Leadership Course. They have had the unique opportunity to observe how programs across NYC’s five boroughs benefit children and discovered how they can contribute in making this city a better place for all of them. At the end of our annual ten-week program, participants emerge as well-informed child advocates, each a leader in his or her own way.

In the world of child advocacy, leadership starts with:

  • Learning about the challenges NYC families face and the innovative solutions being developed to help them
  • Visiting the programs that serve children and hearing directly from their directors and government agency staff
  • Engaging in discussions with our policy staff about their areas of expertise
  • Becoming educated on the areas in which we focus, including child poverty, child welfare, juvenile justice, family homelessness, education and youth services, among others

Most of all, leadership begins with finding out why your voice is important and how you and your network of friends and colleagues can truly make a difference in the life of a child.

Recruitment is currently underway for our next Community Leadership program, which starts in September. Space is available on a first come, first serve basis. Join direct service providers, foundation officers, clergy, lawyers, legislative staff, nonprofit board members, parents, and the many others who have taken our Community Leadership Course and become the best advocate you can be for NYC’s children and families. Fill out an application form today.

Leadership starts with you.
