Mental Health Awareness Month Rally

May 10, 2021

9:30 am - 10:30 am

Join CCC and our partners at the Coalition for Behavioral Health, United Neighborhood Houses and the UJA Federation of New York to raise awareness and rally for critical city funding for mental health and substance use services.

New Yorkers cannot recover from COVID-19 without support for their mental health. As our City looks to 2022, we must reckon with the mental health crisis currently facing our communities:

  • 1 in 5 New Yorkers with symptoms of anxiety and/or depression were unable to access necessary mental health services in October 2020
  • overdose deaths are up over 25%
  • children are facing a mental health crisis, with insurance claims for self-harm increasing astronomically by over 300%
  • individuals with schizophrenia were 3x more likely to die from COVID

Raise your voice with us for a city budget that fully funds mental health and substance use services, by:

  • Fully restoring City Council Mental Health Initiatives Funding to FY20 levels and increasing several initiatives
  • Maintaining full funding for programs under ThriveNYC that provide direct services to vulnerable populations
  • Expanding on-site behavioral health services in schools
  • Investing in a behavioral health response to New Yorkers in crisis
