CCC’s New York State Budget Recommendations For State Fiscal Year 2014-2015

CCC responded to the New York State Fiscal Year 2014-2015 Executive Budget proposals with Budget Recommendations for the Governor and State Legislature.

CCC had six key categories of priorities:

  • Ensure the Family Court does not close its doors to justice;
  • Ensure all children reach their academic potential;
  • Promote economic security for children, youth and families;
  • Raise the age of criminal responsibility;
  • Combat family homelessness;and
  • Meet the needs of vulnerable children including foster children, runaway and homeless youth and sexually exploited youth.

CCC’s recommendations included:

  • Approving the Judiciary budget request and adding 20 new Family Court Judges statewide;
  • Approving the City’s plan to expand full-day pre-k to all 4-year-olds and after-school to all middle school children through a tax on the wealthiest New Yorkers;
  • Restoring funding for child protective and child preventive services.
  • Increasing funding for emergency food programs, runaway and homeless youth services, services for sexually exploited youth, Summer Youth Employment, and child care.
