The New York City Preliminary Budget for Fiscal Year 2015 proposes to maintain funding levels for critical programs, as well as baseline many City Council initiatives, and add funding for important services such as full-day universal pre-kindergarten, after-school programs and services for runaway and homeless youth.
Mayor de Blasio’s speech called for the end of the “budget dance,” where every year the Mayor cuts the same services that are then restored by the City Council. The speech also mentioned that there will soon be the creation of a new homelessness prevention program.
CCC’s New York City Fiscal Year 2015 Preliminary Budget Summary details the proposals that impact children and families.
