Alice Bufkin, CCC’s Director of Policy for Child and Adolescent Health testified before the State Assembly’s Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee regarding the proposed 2019-2020 Executive Budget.

On behalf of CCC, Alice praised several items in the budget including proposals to reduce lead exposure for children and proposals to address the state’s high maternal mortality rate. Key to the success of these initiatives will be appropriating sufficient funding to ensure their implementation.

However, we stand strongly against proposed cuts to New York City’s public health system, and the budget’s failure to invest in important home visiting programs
