On Wednesday June 7th, Policy and Advocacy Associate Juan Diaz submitted written testimony for the New York City Council Social Welfare Committee that examined the impact of direct cash payments on vulnerable populations.

CCC submitted a testimony in support of Intro 561 A, which would provide the City Administration authorization to establish or fund one or more pilot programs to provide direct cash assistance to certain eligible low-income individuals. CCC acknowledged the benefits of cash transfer programs in alleviating the negative effects of poverty among vulnerable populations and provided examples of existing successful cash transfer pilot programs locally and in other urban areas in the United States.
