Child Advocacy Fund

We can’t risk losing a generation of New York’s children to the potential long-term consequences of the unprecedented public health and economic crisis now facing our country and city. Together we must champion public investments and policies that advance racial and economic equality and ensure that all children, families, and communities recover and thrive.

Every gift makes a difference. The donation you make now will be put to immediate use ensuring CCC’s expert research, civic engagement, and advocacy continue without disruption. We need your support more than ever because New York City’s 1.7 million children are depending on all of us.

Understanding what your investment allows CCC to do for NYC children:

440,000 children in New York City live in poverty and 60% of them are Black or Latinx.

A gift of $25,000 or more could help CCC draw public attention to the heightened disparities facing our city along with our work advancing budget, policy and legislation that breaks down systemic barriers to child well-being and pandemic recovery.

250,000 children under age five are eligible for childcare subsidies; yet public funding reaches less than 25 percent of them.

A gift of $10,000 or more could address the unprecedented role public child care will play in COVID-19 and economic recovery, ranging from increased demand and limited capacity, to the critical role child care centers will have in addressing COVID related trauma, behavioral health, and early intervention services.

22,000 children will sleep in a homeless shelter tonight and the average length of stay for families in shelter is 446 days. 95% of families in shelters are headed by Black or Latina women.

A gift of $5,000 or more could allow CCC to further the policy and budget recommendations that increase permanent connections to affordable housing and decrease entrance into the shelter system.

Youth are leading the way on civic engagement.

A gift of $2,500 or more could sponsor a student in our highly regarded Youth Action programs where high school students examine pressing social issues, develop solutions to community problems, and meet with elected and appointed government officials to present recommendations for change.

More than 150,000 children under 18 live in households without internet access or a cellular data plan.

A gift of $1,500 or more could further CCC’s work to ensure that all children have the technology and in-school instruction needed to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. This is more critical than ever as children face significant educational disparities and learning loss resulting from barriers to distance learning.

Nearly 50% of children and adolescents with a diagnosed behavioral health need go without clinical care.

A gift of $1,000 or more could help advance recommendations to improve access to high quality health and behavioral health care, especially for Black and Latinx children who are disproportionately suffering from depression and anxiety.

A gift of any amount will enable us to continue our fight to ensure that every child is healthy, housed, educated and safe.
