Understanding what your investment allows CCC to do for NYC children:
A gift of any amount will enable us to continue our fight to ensure that every child is healthy, housed, educated and safe. No gift is too small (or too large).
Promote Economic Mobility: A gift of $75,000 or more could aid advocacy to support income lifting strategies including tax credit enhancements, Universal Basic Income, wage policies and more. This work is critical as income inequality keeps 1 in 4 NYC children living in poverty, and Black, Latine, and Asian children are twice as likely to be impacted by poverty than their white peers.
Increase Mental Health Care Access: A gift of $50,000 could support efforts to expand behavioral health care access, including investments that alleviate wait times for treatment and build a robust and sustainable workforce. With 1 in 5 New York children reporting a mental health need, government actions are needed to ensure more families receive timely access to services.
Support Housing Security for Families: A gift of $25,000 could support efforts to end family homelessness by advancing policies that connect families to eviction prevention, rent subsidies, and permanent affordable housing. With over 46,000 children in NYC shelters on a given night, who are mainly Black or Latine, we must support housing stability and invest in housing-first solutions to promote racial equity and housing security for all children.
Expand Access to Child Care and Universal Pre-Kindergarten: A gift of $15,000 could help continue advocacy efforts to achieve universal early childhood education that strengthen school readiness and economic stability. Over 80% of families in NYC cannot afford care for children under 5 due to the high-cost burden of child care.
Invest in Youth Opportunity: A gift of $10,000 could help efforts to advocate for year-round youth programs that build connections to the arts, sports and skill-building, and support social-emotional development and school success. Last summer, nearly 30,000 youth who applied to NYC’s Summer Rising program did not get a seat, illustrating a need for greater investments in youth opportunities.
Reduce Child Welfare Involvement: A gift of $5,000 could help advocate to better connect families to social safety net supports that promote stability and well-being while reducing child welfare involvement. More than 70% of child welfare investigations involve neglect, which often reflects economic precarity as caretakers struggle to access basic needs for food, clothing, housing, education, or medical care.
A gift of any amount will support our expert public policy advocacy, our research and award winning data products, and civic engagement — enabling us to continue our fight to ensure that every child is healthy, housed, educated and safe.
