Sophia joined CCC’s Research and Data team in 2018.
She is responsible for maintaining the data on data.cccnewyork.org, CCC’s public database on NYC communities and families, and conducts mission-critical analyses to support advocacy in the issue areas of child and maternal health, child welfare, education equity, and the Census. Sophia’s experience in academic research at a public health lab at NYU; in institutional research at CUNY; and as an adjunct lecturer has shaped her perspective as a researcher who is passionate about utilizing data in ways that are informative and transformative for public discourse regarding children and families in NYC. Sophia is a member of NYC’s Open Data Advisory Council, and sits on the Advisory Panel for the NYC Data Recovery Project from the Mayor’s Office. She holds a M.A. in Data Analytics and Applied Social Research and a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from Queens College, CUNY.
