Urge Governor Hochul to Support Young Children with Developmental Delays and Disabilities

New York State’s Early Intervention (EI) program provides critical evaluations and services to young children with developmental delays and disabilities.

These services can help change the developmental trajectory of infants and toddlers, supporting their health, language and communication, cognition, and social/emotional wellbeing.

Despite the life-changing potential of the program, years of underfunding and inadequate reimbursement rates have led to provider shortages resulting in service gaps and delays for young children – particularly those in low income communities of color.

A.6579/S.5676, a bill passed by the state legislature earlier this year, would start to address the underfunding of EI services, by requiring the Department of Health conduct a study on how payment rates are set for Early Intervention evaluations and services.

Take action today! Urge Governor Hochul to support young children with developmental delays and disabilities and their families by signing A.6579/S.5676 into law.
