Care not Criminalization: Ensuring Youth and Communities are Supported

The pandemic has compromised the stability of families,  exacerbated existing social and economic inequalities and disproportionately impacted youth and communities of color across New York State. Data shows that the pandemic has increased barriers to safety and wellbeing for youth – disrupting their education, negatively impacting their employment, and resulting in skyrocketing behavioral health needs. To promote economic mobility and wellbeing and achieve youth and community safety across the State of New York, we must prioritize investments in and legislation supporting youth and communities.
